Um, where did February go?

Looks like I failed to post much last month. There's a couple of reasons for that. We had visitors and went out to do things and stayed kind of busy, which took away some of that time I used for blogging. And I don't generally adjust to a new schedule quickly. Or, I don't remember to continue all of my good habits when a schedule changes. It never seems to effect my ability to waste time watching tv or playing video games...

But, I digress. February was lovely, with lots of walking (I'm averaging around 10 miles a week), a fair number of friends, trips to the zoo, first time hanging out with our new circus friends, and a baby girl with lots of firsts.

We went to Clover Park in Santa Monica for a play date with friends we've made through a mommy group on Facebook. It was one of those, "oh, there needs to be a first time for this, doesn't there?" moments when she first put her feet on the grass. It's been wonderful being able to find other moms and kiddos to hang out with through FB. Without social networking, I'd feel so lost and lonely. Instead, we've found regular weekly play groups, good advice and stories of raising kids, and fun classes to go to (like today's Baby Signs class).

Her daddy wants to be sure she knows how wonderful In-N-Out is (no matter what her mommy thinks). I don't think she'll need much convincing, but she doesn't get to start eating it for awhile.

Uncle Jake came to visit! He enjoyed the show, and got to play with his favorite niece.

During our play date at the park, we discovered that Kaylee LOVES the swings. She swings at the beach almost every day.

Oxy friends came to visit! Rachel and I even spent an afternoon at the Oxy bookstore and wandering the Quad. We were amused by how it still felt the same, but totally different. There was a feeling that at any minute an old friend would be walking by, on their way from the library to the Marketplace; but at the same time, we were looking at these kids and wondering if we looked so young when we were students.

An awesome afternoon on the beach.

First foods! Rice cereal, bananas, apples, carrots... so far, she loves them all. She also loves to gnaw on those red C-clamps holding her chair to the table. Oh, well. You win some, you lose some.

Chewing on a cold washcloth for those sore gums and sitting up on her own. How is this possibly the kid I gave birth to less than six months ago? You amaze me every day!

A new friend! Someone to play with while we travel with Cirque. We spent a lovely afternoon together at the zoo getting to know each other, getting away from our apartments, and watching monkeys!

One last shot of her in her adorable polar bear jacket. It's been added to the pile of clothes headed to storage. We're thinking ahead (just 3 weeks and 4 days until we head to Portland) about what gets packed, what gets shipped, which things will be dropped off for storage in Southern Oregon as Dylan drives through, and all that craziness. I'm still loving every day in LA, and soaking up all the wonderfulness I can before we leave. Yet, still looking ahead to our next stop and our adventures there.

Hopefully, I'll remember to post again before that happens.

(You can probably count on several posts when I should be packing. About two weeks from now.)
