Sock Monkey!

Dylan has wanted a sock monkey for a long time, and I looked for patterns off and on (depending what kind of knitting mood I was in) and had only ever found patterns that started with "knit socks" included "cut socks" and ended with "sew together." Not being all that good with needle and thread, and having only ever encountered serious cases of second-sock-syndrome when I'd attempted to knit socks in the past, I put these patterns down and walked away every time.
During our December in Michigan, though, I found a cute Patons pattern for sock monkeys in which no actual socks were required. And, it included a pattern for a ridiculously cute "baby monkey." It seemed like a good gift for a new dad who decided to join the circus. So I decided I'd finally knit Dylan his sock monkey as a Christmas present. It would only be slightly belated (was my thinking) because I'd get it done before leaving Michigan.
I had 80% done before I left Michigan. Then, I only found a few nights in LA when I had the energy and motivation to knit. And, I had to redo an arm and his muzzle. The arm because the white part on the first one was way too long. The muzzle because I used the wrong color. So, it sat in the closet in LA and didn't get done.
Three of the last four nights, however, have been great knitting nights. Sleeping baby, quiet house, a season of Bones and The Finder to catch up on... a perfect recipe. I even managed to get out and find buttons for the eyes today.
It might be three months late, but, Merry Christmas, love:
