Catching Up

Spent the day at home, hoping to get some sorting/organizing/cleaning done in anticipation of our trip to southern Oregon next week, which will be a chance for some storage swapping.  There's clothes Kaylee has outgrown in the past month that need to go to storage, and another bag or two of things that I want to take to Australia.

Didn't work out that way.  Although I was able to get a very little bit of sorting done before Dylan left for work, the baby then decided to not take her two hour nap at noon, but wasn't awake enough to play either - so we snuggled for two hours.  Then when she did go down for a nap at 2, it ended up being almost three hours (and I slept, too).  So, no sorting today :(

In order for today to not feel like a total bust (okay, a 3 hour nap is not a waste, but it can feel like it), here are some pictures!  Since I haven't posted a real update with lots of pictures since we got to Portland, it's time to share what we've been up to.

Let's start with our last few weeks in LA...
I had gotten a bit obsessed with blogging about sleep there, toward the end.  So even though I mentioned some of the things we did, I didn't post pics.  The highlights included a trip to Disneyland with our dear friend Heather (the one responsible for Dylan and I ever meeting):
Waiting for Heather and Dylan outside Space Mountain

Getting ready to go on Jungle Cruise!

Completely unimpressed by the Jungle Cruise jokes.  Turns out, the backside of water is a joke totally wasted on the infant crowd (no matter how much the Daddy likes it).

Thanks for a great place to visit, Mickey!
Kaylee was also busy learning to feed herself,  She's very good at it!  And she's got two teeth to help her out.

We took a few more trips to the LA Zoo.  Their new LAIR (Lizards, Amphibians, Invertebrates, Reptiles) exhibit is beautiful!  We even took Dylan with us to see it.  Totally worth the trip.
Kaylee sitting next to an aligator (statue).

Oblivious to the cool lizards in the terrarium behind her.
And we took a few last trips to Santa Monica Pier, Marina del Rey beach, and other good soak-up-some-SoCal-sun places.

Good bye, LA.

Hello, Portland!

It rains here, a lot.  And when it doesn't rain, it's cloudy.  We don't spend much time out in the sun.  But, we do play in our hotel room:
New toy!  A floor.
Apparently, it's for chewing.

Portland has some cool places to play.  Like OMSI!

In the Science Playground

Checking out the LEGO exhibit (that's her Busia behind her). And, yes, that's a sculpture of the planets built from LEGOS.

More Busia!  She came to visit, because Grandpa's been at work too much and she gets bored at home.

We spend LOTS of time playing with the cousins!  They've invited us many times in the past, but the drive up from Ashland was too far.  Now, it's easy to go play!  So, we do.  They took us to the Tulip Festival:

Kaylee had a great view from Holly's back :)
And we go play at their house, too...
Chomping on any infant-friendly toys she can find :)

And, we found a park, on a sunny day, that had swings!

And, there's no good picture to go with it, but she's CRAWLING!  She still just rolls and scoots and wiggles her way across the room.  Unless there's something she REALLY wants.  Like an iPhone or computer.  Then, it's all fours in perfect synchronization.  :)  Must be her daddy's kid.
