Making Progress

I had to restart the fingerless mitts I'm knitting for Dylan about 6 times.  Then, when I was finally happy with my plan to use the Jacoby pattern I've used before, but with a few modifications for Dylan's giant hands, and got about an inch and a half done... I watched as the toddler pulled the needles out while I cooked her dinner.

Sigh...

All was not lost, however.  I got to her before she started pulling on the yarn.  So, I picked the stitches back up and carried on.  There are no photos right now, because it looks very odd when it's not on the hand it was knit for.  I'm still not sure I even love it - the thumb gusset sticks out very oddly (I've made it significantly bigger than the pattern calls for).  But they do fit his big hands, soooo... we'll see when it's done and on his hand how he likes it.

I had it cast off last night, but after he tried it on, he said he wanted it just a bit longer over his knuckles.  So, back on to the needles today to add a few more rows.

Progress is also being made on the teaching license front.  I need to renew my license by July, or at least show that I'm working on the professional development credits necessary to renew it by then.  I've put it off way too long, since it's hard to imagine working on education courses without a classroom to explore the ideas in.  I don't want my license to completely expire, though, as it could be really costly (in time and money) to get it back later.

Fortunately, Fate decided to drop a reminder into my inbox in the form of a NSTA online seminar on engineering design.  And getting my SOU account reactivated so I can register for a Spring term course next week was easier than I expected.  So... I should be able to get my 4 credit hours by July.  Hopefully, I can keep myself on track and get all the paperwork in on time for an easy renewal.

Progress doesn't have the same feeling of satisfaction as completion.  But, it's better than nothing.
