When I'm supposed to be writing a paper, this happens. Every time. I'm full of random thoughts and I choose to post them instead of writing the paper I'm supposed to.
Here's part one (straight from my FB post)
Today's random thoughts (part one... I'm writing a research paper... there will be many breaks... and we know from experience this leads to many posts)
1) No one warned me that June in Japan = rain. This is severely ruining my plans for spending the last weeks of our stay here out doing touristy things.
2) I'm glad it's raining and I don't have to feel guilty about keeping K inside with her iPad while I work. Same goes for her runny nose as a result of being out in the rain - at least it adds some justification to our quiet, at-home plans for today and tomorrow.
3) Every time I start to think I've got my thesis ready and can start writing "after I finish reading this article" I find five new articles in the references that are even more closely related to what I wanted to research, and I go read them, and end up with more info I want to include. This is turning into a vicious cycle (and one that's well recognized from previous experience).
4) Less than 3 weeks until Michigan. this is a highly distracting thought.
5) I'm totally obsessed with Minecraft now (played it as part of my research), and this is also a highly distracting thought.
Stay tuned for Random Thoughts, Part 2.... I'd guess about 2 hours from now.
