hey, kid! stop kicking me!

I have some time to kill today, so let's catch up, shall we?

Today, I take a three-hour glucose test for gestational diabetes. So, I have these hours when I need to do something to take my mind off of the hunger, and the headache developing from a lack of coffee this morning. This test is cruel to us pregnant ladies. With luck, it will all turn out fine.

I am 28 weeks pregnant. A baby girl that Dylan and I have been wanting for awhile now. I can't wait to hold her in my arms. Although the pregnancy has been relatively easy, I am having a hard time understanding those women who say they love being pregnant. I am not a fan of being sore, kicked from the inside, unable to row or even cox, and just overall feeling like my body is not mine. I love the daughter growing inside me, but I'm ready for her to be on the outside now.

The pregnancy has been easy though. The typical three months of morning sickness, that was annoying, but never completely debilitating. Then three months of feeling generally better, but working hard and being too tired to enjoy feeling better. Now, it's summer and I am really glad I live somewhere that doesn't have high humidity in the summer.

We went out to DC in May for Dylan's brother's graduation. He received his PhD from University of Maryland, and it was an exciting event for the whole family. But, from the second we got off the plane, I was miserable in the humidity. The same thing happened when I spent Memorial Day in Michigan. Just overwhelmed by the humidity. Guess I've lived on the west coast too long.

The trip to Michigan was good though. Mom got to throw a baby shower, and I loved spending time with all the incredible women from home.

The summer should be interesting. 12 weeks to go.

  1. Best of luck! I can't imagine what you're going through, but I also can't imagine better parents for your little girl.
