According to something I read (how's that for citing your sources? I blame the fact I now do all my blogging by phone so adding hyperlinks is too tough to bother with), Brisbane has something like 1400 parks. The first thing to note about that is there are dozens of suburbs that make up "Brisbane" so we're talking about a huge land area. The second thing is that, like many big cities, a "park" is sometimes little more than a grassy corner with a tree.
But, there are definitely some impressive parks, too. Kaylee and I have found a few with good playgrounds within walking distance from the apartment, and they provide hours of entertainment. In Santa Monica with a 4-5 month old, it was about finding baby swings she could ride in and interesting places to people-watch. In Portland with a 6-8 month old it was about finding indoor places she could crawl safely in. Now: places she can practice pulling herself up, chasing other kids, and playing with new toys.
Today we're back at Roma Street Park, a huge park with awesome multi-age playground. Lots of kids, toys to play with, and the awesome rubber ground to crawl around on. Heaven for a ten month old.
