Traveling with a toddler? Here are my tips for making any new place feel like home in 30 minutes or less:
1) Travel with their sheets/blankets/bed as much as possible. Accept that sharing the bed with mom & dad for the first few nights may still be necessary, but if the bed is their own, they'll settle in faster.
2) Leave the rules from the old hotel/apartment/house there. Keep only the most important ones (i.e. we sit when we're eating, no shoes on the furniture) but don't have a list of rules that are really specific to a location. What's the point of having trained the toddler that we always hang up our jacket when we get home if the next hotel room doesn't even have a closet? Let the toddler help make the new rules. Where should we put our shoes when we get home? Under the bed? Good idea!
3) Unpack the toys first.
4) Go shopping and stock up on the necessities. Milk, juice, and crackers.
5) Find the playgrounds.
