LegoLand

Okay, you've been waiting patiently, so here it is....

A NON-KNITTING post!

I know, you're seriously excited about this.  I am, too.  Or, more specifically, I will be a year from now when I look back and ask myself what we did in Tokyo and start to think all I did was knit.

Last weekend, we went over to LegoLand.  We needed something fun and indoors to do, plus, it took us to where there are stores and restaurants and people watching.  All good things.  On the way there, we realized there's a Baby's R Us in the same mall, and we could address our stroller issues at the same time.  Yay!  A full & crazy day.

Some Lego highlights:

Kaylee played.

So did her daddy...

We checked out Mini Tokyo.  It was seriously cool.

Having been in the full-size sumo stadium, seeing the Lego sized one was fun..

That building in the foreground (off to the left), is the Fuji TV building... it really does have a huge ball in the middle of it.  It's a weird building, and happens to be very close to where the oVo tent is set up, so we see it a lot.

After Legoland and some lunch, we headed off to try out some new strollers. I love the City Mini we've been using for two years, but it just doesn't work in Tokyo.  It's two inches too wide to fit through the standard gates at the train stations, which means waiting in lines and fighting through crowds to get to the handicap gates.  It's got a long wheel base, which is great for stability and maneuverability, but stinks for working through narrow aisles at stores and big crowds in train stations.  In short, it's great for neighborhood suburban walking (everything we've done up until now), but not for seriously urban transportation.

We made Kaylee sit in a bunch of strollers.  We spent two days trying to read reviews.  I asked the Tokyo Mothers Group on Facebook.  The final decision was an Aprica Stick Plus.  Smaller footprint (fits through the standard train gates! doesn't roll over everyone's toes!), easy to fold up and carry (so light!  quick, umbrella type fold), and Kaylee wasn't way too big for it.  She is, technically, too big for it.  It has a 15kg limit, and she's already a bit over that.  But, there's no indication at all that it can't handle a lot more weight than that.  And the reviews (and mommy recommendations) were that it's a good choice for older toddlers.  So, we're taking that little risk with it.

Look how cute!

I still haven't found time to do the photo editing I want.  So, forgive the unedited iPhone shots.  I really need to figure out how to find time for photos.  I'm working on it.  Slowly.
